In 1966, they stopped thinking of the studio as a room where you recorded music. They started thinking of it as an instrument you played. They ran microphones through speakers. They played tapes backwards. They recorded a 41-piece orchestra and mixed it with a sitar.
About this design: Technical blueprint of a 1960s mixing console viewed from above — but the knobs gradually transform into blooming flowers and psychedelic swirls at the outer edges. Reel-to-reel tape machines flanking the sides. Sound waves flowing like rivers.
