Tea Time — Victorian Absurdist Rock Heritage Tee

In 1967, the band recorded a song that made no logical sense whatsoever. It was about walruses and eggmen and everything else nonsensical and wonderful. It sounded like Lewis Carroll had come back from the dead to write lyrics for a rock band.

Decades later, scholars and fans still argue about what any of it means. The songwriters themselves gave conflicting explanations and then admitted they were making most of it up. The point, they said, wasn’t to mean anything. The point was to invite you to a tea party where nothing had to make sense.

Everybody’s invited.

About this design: Victorian absurdist illustration in the style of Sir John Tenniel’s Alice in Wonderland engravings. A scene divided in two — on the left, a distinguished walrus wearing a Victorian top hat, monocle, and waistcoat sitting at a round tea table. On the right, a large anthropomorphic egg with thin human legs wearing polished shoes and a bowler hat. A shared ornate teapot and two teacups between them. Framed by an ornate Victorian picture border with decorative corners. Detailed crosshatching engraving technique. Sepia ink on aged cream.
