“They Were Wrong” — 1962
On January 1, 1962, four lads from Liverpool drove through a snowstorm to audition for one of the biggest record labels in the world. The letter that came back allegedly contained: “Guitar groups are on the way out.”
The executive became a footnote. The band sold 600 million records.
About this design: Three words dominate the shirt: “THEY WERE WRONG”. A thin red rule separates the headline from a typewriter footnote. At the bottom, a small red rubber stamp: 1962.
