The Gardener — Friar Park, 1970–2001
In 1970, he bought a crumbling 120-room Victorian Gothic mansion in Oxfordshire. He spent thirty-one years restoring its gardens. He introduced himself: “I’m a gardener who plays guitar.” He died there in 2001. Every spring, everything comes back up.
About this design: Victorian gothic estate silhouette — pointed gables, stone towers, tall chimneys. Surrounded by formal gardens — topiary shapes, a stone saint statue, flower beds, a winding path. Fine line work Victorian engraving style.
