Every legendary scene has a single address where the story began. Liverpool’s was underground — literally.
In 1961, you walked down a side street, pushed open a heavy wooden door at 10 Mathew Street, and descended into a damp basement where the ceiling was so low you had to duck. The walls sweated. And the music was unlike anything anyone had heard before.
About this design: A single vintage concert admission ticket — torn perforated edges, coffee ring stain, fold creases, a faded red “ORIGINAL” ink stamp. Typed in heavy block capitals: BORN IN THE BASEMENT / CLASS OF 1961 / 10 MATHEW ST.
