Just Landed — Pan Am 101 — New York February 1964 Rock Tee

At 1:20 PM on Sunday, February 7, 1964, Pan American Flight 101 from London Heathrow touched down at New York’s JFK Airport. Waiting on the tarmac were approximately three thousand fans — the largest airport welcome in American history at that point.

Two days later, seventy-three million people would watch them on television. But this was the moment before that moment. This was the landing that began the British Invasion.

About this design: Bold Roy Lichtenstein pop art poster — a vintage 1960s Pan Am jet with cream and cyan livery descending diagonally across the frame, trailing musical notes instead of contrails. A single comic speech bubble saying “YEAH!” in the sky. A simplified NYC skyline silhouette at the bottom with the Statue of Liberty visible on the left edge. Classic Ben-Day dots halftone pattern. Hot magenta, electric yellow, vivid cyan, and jet black. Maximum pop art energy.
